An Unforgettable Three-Day Field Trip in the Heart of Nature
From April 28 to 30, 2025, our elementary explorers embarked on a thrilling field trip to Sukabumi — a journey filled with nature, culture, and countless memories that will stay in our hearts for years to come. Here's a look back at the highlights of our unforgettable adventure.
The moment we arrived, the children stepped into a world of wide green fields and fresh mountain air. With excitement in their eyes and backpacks on their shoulders, they set up camp under the open sky.
The day was packed with outdoor fun — from playing soccer on open fields to a scenic trek through the forest that led us to a hidden lake. There, students got the chance to ride a traditional wooden raft, gliding gently across the calm water. It was a day of laughter, exploration, and connection with nature — the perfect start to our journey.
The second day began with energizing morning exercises that got everyone moving and smiling. Then came a scenic village trek where the children took part in traditional rural life — catching dragonflies with nets and learning how to mold fresh palm sugar using bamboo molds.
This day was a beautiful blend of fun, culture, and hands-on learning. The children not only experienced local traditions firsthand but also learned to appreciate the simple joys of life in the countryside.
As the sun set and the sky turned dark, a hush of anticipation fell over the camp. This was the night everyone had been waiting for — firefly observation.
Thanks to the gentle post-rain weather, the evening was perfect. The children watched in wonder as the fireflies blinked like stars all around them. Some even managed to catch a few, releasing them with wide smiles and glowing eyes.
More than just magical, this experience taught our young explorers about the importance of fireflies as indicators of a healthy ecosystem — a gentle lesson in environmental awareness, wrapped in awe and wonder.
As the trip neared its end, the students channeled their creativity into a special activity: leaf monoprinting. Each group created their own unique nature-inspired art piece, which they then framed as a keepsake of the trip.
It was a beautiful way to reflect on the journey — turning leaves into lasting memories.
To close our adventure, the children faced their final challenge: the flying fox! With helmets on and hearts pounding, they soared through the trees in an exhilarating experience that was equal parts thrilling and empowering.
This high-flying finish wasn’t just about fun — it was about bravery, confidence, and discovering the joy of stepping outside of their comfort zones.
Final Thoughts
